Biography
Michael Wilson founded Sky’s business coverage at the channel’s inception in 1989. Over the next 20 years he anchored coverage for a range of landmark events, from the collapse of the Berlin Wall, to the last global financial crisis, and beyond.
Through boom and bust, from election nights to Budget specials, Michael has been an established business commentator for the punishing schedule of the 24/7 news cycle.
Since leaving Sky in 2009, Michael has broadcast for the BBC, ITV, Reuters, Fox, Al-Jazeera, TRT World and LBC. He hosts ‘The Business Breakfast’ on JazzFM, and has recently been involved with Arise Networks – a new, global news service aimed at Africa – as Director of Business and Economics Editor. Michael is also a consultant to one of Europe’s largest independent news services companies.
He co-wrote ‘Fixing Britain: The Business of Reshaping our Nation’ with Lord Digby Jones, giving no-nonsense solutions from the straight-talking face of British business. As well as his articles for the British national press and magazines, Michael has also been published by the British Journalism Review.
In 2005 Michael was voted Business Broadcaster of the Year, and in 2006 he was made a Freeman of the City of London.
